How to Choose a Psychic Medium: What to Know Before Booking a Reading

Choosing a psychic medium can feel incredibly personal. You may be looking for guidance in your own life, hoping to connect with someone who has passed, or simply feeling that it's time to explore what comes through.

As Miss Heavenly Psychic Medium – Hayley David, I thought I'd answer some of the questions I'm commonly asked about psychic readings, mediumship and what you can expect when sitting with me.

What is the difference between a psychic and a psychic medium?

Psychic work focuses primarily on you and your life. I can be shown your past, present and future around areas such as relationships, career, finances, family and your personal path.

Mediumship shifts the connection towards a loved one who has passed.

In my readings, the two often naturally weave together.

What is evidential mediumship?

For me, evidential mediumship isn't simply telling you that someone is there.

Your loved one brings through details about their own life before they passed — personality, relationships, memories and experiences that may help you recognise exactly who has stepped forward.

The evidence helps establish the connection before we move into messages or guidance.

What should I expect from a reading with Miss Heavenly?

Every reading is individual and I don't work from a set script.

All I need to begin is your name. I see your name almost like your energetic signature. You don't need to tell me your story or why you've come.

My guides generally begin psychically with your life — looking at the past, present and future around the areas that are relevant to you. Loved ones in spirit will often begin weaving themselves naturally into those conversations.

Do I need to tell you anything beforehand?

No. In fact, I prefer knowing as little as possible.

Allow me to tell you what I'm receiving rather than giving me the information first.

There will always be time to ask questions or seek clarity as the reading unfolds.

Can I choose which loved one comes through?

You can absolutely hope to hear from someone, but I can't promise who will step forward.

I allow spirit to communicate naturally rather than trying to control the connection. Sometimes the person you hoped for comes through immediately; sometimes another loved one has something they want to establish first.

Can a psychic medium predict my future?

I can be shown aspects of your past, present and future, but I don't believe your future should be treated as completely set in stone.

Choices matter. Free will matters.

I will tell you what I'm being shown and where something appears to be heading, but your life remains yours to live and your decisions remain yours to make.

Can psychic medium readings be done online or by phone?

Absolutely.

I'm based in Melbourne, Australia, but my work isn't limited by location. I work with people locally, interstate and internationally, with readings available both in person and remotely.

The way I connect doesn't change simply because we aren't physically sitting in the same room.

Are online readings as effective as sitting with you in person?

In my experience, yes.

I still begin with your name and allow the psychic and mediumship connection to unfold naturally. Distance doesn't determine the strength of the connection.

For many people, online or remote readings simply make it possible to sit with me from wherever they are in the world.

How do I choose a reputable psychic medium?

Personal referral is incredibly powerful. Much of my own work has grown through word of mouth, with clients recommending me to friends and family after experiencing a reading themselves.

You can also look at reviews, experience, professional presence and how openly a medium explains their work.

But ultimately, choose someone whose approach feels right for you.

Should I choose a psychic medium because they have awards or recognition?

Recognition can certainly tell you something about a person's work, but I don't believe it should be the only reason you choose them.

In 2026, I was honoured to receive eight nominations in the Spiritual Leaders Awards International, across areas including psychic work, mediumship, evidential mediumship, spiritual teaching and leadership.

I'm incredibly grateful for that recognition, but for me, the trust clients place in my work and the referrals that follow remain equally meaningful.

Does Miss Heavenly only offer private readings?

No. Private readings are only one part of my work.

Through Heavenly Soul Connected International, my work also extends into psychic and mediumship development, spiritual workshops, retreats and live mediumship events, allowing people to experience this work in very different ways.

Do I have to be in Melbourne to work with Miss Heavenly?

Not at all.

Melbourne is home, but my work extends throughout Australia and internationally. Remote readings allow me to connect with people regardless of where they live, while my events, workshops and retreats take the work into different locations.

How will I know if Miss Heavenly is the right psychic medium for me?
